NUSWhispers – Confession #97174
Hi, is there anyone who deferred their MOE Tuition Grant bond obligation to pursue further studies?
I am a graduating international student who deferred the TG bond obligation to pursue further studies overseas. Yesterday, I went to place a banker's guarantee (BG, ~91000SGD) at DBS, but found out that I need to irreversibly pay an additional 8600SGD to simply issue the BG. That 'commission fee' was something that I neither heard of nor informed by MOE/NUS in any tuition grant briefing.
I am in desperate need of help.. I am confused if the student is responsible to fully bear that 8600SGD commission charge on top of the amount for Banker's Guarantee. That's more than the tuition fee for 1 semester...sigh.
Saving up the money for BG was already a big commitment for me and my family...and I never expected to pay more... I really don't want to give up my dream and get through this situation (panicking..)
Did anyone face a similar situation as me?
I would truly appreciate your comments if you know about this situation.
PS -I tried searching for advice on the internet, MOE website..etc but there was no advice about the commission charge the BG.
-I emailed MOE, but their reply takes time + deadline for the BG application is approaching, which is driving me crazy.
