NUSWhispers – Confession #80507
I was talking to a friend the other day and he actually thought that COVID19 came from someone eating a bat / bat soup (given all the memes about it). This got me thinking about how memes are actually some people’s source of information. Given that they are memes, people don’t usually fact check or even call out the fake news in memes, so people who stumble across a meme without background knowledge will usually take it to be true. What’s the best way to tell someone that the information they got from a meme is wrong without coming across as a kill joy or know it all?
